The outlook for many senior dogs staying at a shelter is often grim. Some caretakers believe that these dogs may spend the rest of their lives there without the possibility of finding their new families. Nevertheless, there are some old dogs who are lucky enough to escape such a fate.

Cesar, a 17-year-old dog, had been lucky, as he found his new and loving home. This was after a kind woman gave him a professional photo shoot, which helped in getting people’s attention.

Get to know Cesar below.

Cesar’s story

Cesar was taken to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in October last year. This was because his previous owner was suffering from medical difficulties and could no longer care for Cesar.

Fortunately, Cesar didn’t have cancer. However, he was suffering from age-related health conditions, such as arthritis. With that, he had been considered as a palliative animal. Despite his condition, he still loved eating treats, taking power naps, and chilling on his own terms.

A woman named Shauna Madden volunteered at the SPCA. She also had her own photography business.
So when she first heard about the senior dog, she asked if she could take pictures of Cesar. The shelter agreed, and eventually, Cesar’s professional photos became viral.

Shauna was surprised by the people’s reaction to Cesar’s photoset. Initially, the pictures have more than 2.9K shares, and they even reached about 290K people.

Cesar found a home!

Thanks to Shauna’s photographs, Cesar managed to find a new family. Out of the many people who saw the dog’s story, one finally decided to take him home.

Shauna couldn’t be more excited with the news. Staff members of the SPCA were also thrilled with the news. However, this was quite bittersweet for them since Cesar would be leaving the shelter. Nevertheless, the staff members wished Cesar all the best, as he moved to what they were calling the dog’s new retirement home.
