A heartbreaking viral video captured the exact moment a Husky realized he was getting abandoned. The unfortunate pup attempted to follow his owner, but his human sped away without him, leaving him quite unsure of what he had done wrong.

Left behind

Joy Dominguez was driving when she saw the Husky getting abandoned on a Texas highway. She stopped her car and decided to record what she saw and sent it to news outlets.

A young man was seen in the footage with the dog on the side of the road. He removed the dog’s leash and collar. The Husky then gets up and walks down the side of the road for a while. As he does so, the person gets into the car and drives away without him. The Husky rushes after the vehicle thinking it was a mistake, but it didn’t slow down.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office saw the video and reviewed the incident. They announced that suspects could reach a year in county jail or a $4,000 fine if convicted. They also asked helped from bystanders with knowledge of the dog’s prior owners and encouraged them to contact the authorities.

Starting over

The local rescue facility received the dog from Joy and closely monitored him. The Husky had been to the vet clinic and was in good health, so an animal rescue organization placed him for adoption.

Shortly after the video was posted, the video attracted a lot of attention. A lot of people were interested in adopting the dog but the shelter chose a kindhearted new family that reached out in the first twenty-four hours.

After seeing what the Husky had been through, the Clappsaddle family fell in love with him. As a result, they adopted him and renamed him “Ninook” after the canine in the 1987 film The Lost Boys.
