Neglected dogs who were saved from poor conditions and given a new life will always find a way to thank the kind people who adopted them. That’s because having a permanent family who loves them is a dream come true. And this inspiring truth was clearly shown by a dog named Niño, who lives with his owner in Bogotá, Colombia.
Niño was once an abandoned dog. His original owners heartlessly abandoned him in a park. Leaving the poor dog homeless and without any family to take care of him. Fortunately, a good-hearted man, 62-year-old José Ever Henao, was moved by his plight and decided not only to feed him but adopt him as well.
Since bringing the dog to his home, José showered him with love every single day. He also gave the dog a name — Niño, which means son or child in Spanish. He chose the name because the dog deserves to be treated not as a pet but as a son.
Of course, the dog cannot verbally say thanks to his beloved father that is why he showed it through his actions. Niño became a very obedient dog to express his gratitude for José. But it turns out that being an obedient dog wasn’t enough for Niño to thank his father for totally changing his life. The dog was waiting for the right time to bring out the best expression of gratitude he can give. And his opportunity came when the global pandemic happened.
The pandemic became a huge challenge for José because seniors like him have been prohibited from going outside their house to protect them from the virus. While this implementation is for the greater good, it was undoubtedly bad news for José. But, this became the perfect opportunity for Niño to give back all the goodness that his father gave to him.
Niño does the grocery shopping
Since José now has limited mobility, Niño willingly assisted his father. He took the role of a personal shopper for José and was the one going to the market and shops to buy all his father’s needs. He carries a wicker basket on his mouth with a list of items to buy, and of course, money. And whenever shopkeepers see him, they already know what to do: check the list of items that Niño has to buy and help him put these things in his basket.
Another great thing about Niño is that he never eats the food in his basket nor strays on his way home. José proudly shared with El Tiempo, a local news site, that Niño would go straight to their house to deliver the items to him right after buying. Good job, Niño!
