Meet Bobby Bones
In March 2018, radio star and TV personality Bobby Bones found himself alone—without a girlfriend and reeling from the death of his 15-year-old dog named Dusty. Amidst the fame and success, it was hard for him to wrap his head around an empty couch and house.
But things looked brighter for the media personality in August 2019 when he adopted Stanley, a blue-eyed English bulldog. And when Bobby was visiting the Dancing with the Stars set he met Caitlin Parker backstage. They became engaged and moved in together in October 2020.
A new addition to the family
It was a series of good fortune for the best-selling author and host of iHeartRadio’s The Bobby Bones Show. Including when they decided to extend their growing family into a group of four. They adopted a rescue Husky mix named Eller. They did this late last year as the world came to a standstill because of the pandemic.
And just like that, his heart, together with his couch and home—became full.
The 40-year-old said in an interview with PEOPLE that Stanley is the best cuddler. On the other hand, Eller is full of energy and always bouncing around.
And while Bones and Parker are in a harmonious relationship right now, their two dogs have had a few hiccups. Their fur-dad shares how both of them initially had difficulties relating to the other. After all, Eller was plucked off the streets when she was rescued by an organization called Wags & Walks Nashville.
The darling newcomer would nip and bite them in the beginning. And who could blame her—she was left to fend for herself at such a young age. Because of this, she wasn’t in excellent shape when she was turned over to Bones.
They had her do a few sessions with a dedicated trainer to get her to have a good relationship with Stanley. It went great for a little while—but alas, all good things sometimes come to an end.
Bones tells how the two would have a great time playing outdoors, and Stanley couldn’t get enough. They would come back inside, and he would still have so much energy left in him to play. He would be unstoppable and rambunctious. There were times when Stanly would beat up Eller. So they had to find a way to calm them down and figure out the cause of their rowdy behavior.
There was an incident in January when Stanley ran away from Parker while they were out jogging, causing her to fall and injure her wrists. She says he doesn’t know how to run on a leash. It might have been something he saw in the yard that made him run, making him knock her off her feet. Stanley, after all, weighs 63lbs. and is no match for Parker, especially if he is jumping three inches off the ground.
And even though Parker admits that she feels outnumbered inside their house, the decision to get another dog for their family had been a joint one. Bones says that his fiancée wanted a girl dog, and it was the need to have a playmate for Stanley that made them decide to get a younger female dog to balance the genders inside their home.
With the ongoing pandemic restrictions, the couple still seems to be constantly busy because of their respective professional commitments. This leaves plenty of time for their two canines to stay at home and take the opportunity to get to know each other. According to Bones, they ask friends to watch their pets sometimes as they are usually only home four days a week.
Aside from this, they have a trainer who lives close by that comes over to work with their darling dogs. But despite the rough patches, Bobby believes that their dogs will be alright. He said that looking after Stanley and Eller gives him and his fiancée some much-needed training for their future role as parents. Bobby, with a laugh, says that it’s “an opening act” for him.
Good practice for the future
Parker adds that they have been excelling at delegating tasks to each other so that it won’t be overwhelming for the two of them someday. She says Bones takes care of their dogs out at night and she takes care of them in the morning. And as wedding bells loom on the horizon for these two, their two adorable pups will play a significant role in the ceremony for sure! But of course, the couple says this depends on how their training goes.
Regardless, allow us to wish you an advanced congratulations, Caitlin and Bobby!
