Takis Proestakis was spending time at an animal clinic when he saw a dog who was so afraid of everyone and everything. Takis Proestakis is the founder of the Takis Shelter in Greece. He asked the doctor what happened to the poor animal, and the vet told him that the pup’s owner wanted him to be put down.
Takis tried convincing the dog’s owner not to put the pup to sleep. Takis said that he wanted to take the poor animal with him, but the man discouraged him because the dog was sick.
Takis told the man that he was willing to nurse the dog back to health. The pup’s owner allowed him to take the animal with him and did not ask any more questions.
Takis decided to name the dog Moira because it meant destiny in the Greek language. He said that meeting Moira felt as if fate had brought them together.
Bringing Moira home
Takis took Moira with him from the vet and brought her home. Moira was so afraid of him she cowered in fear whenever he was around her.
Takis shared that Moira’s owner did not treat her well, which explained Moira’s horrible health condition. He believed that Moira also suffered from abuse because the dog was afraid of all people, and kept hiding whenever he tried to take her out for a walk.
Takis shared that Moira’s health condition eventually improved after doing various therapies for weeks. Takis was so relieved when Moira finally became a much happier dog despite suffering from her previous owner’s abuse.
One day, Moira’s owner saw the dog again and was surprised that Moira was looking better again. Moira’s owner asked if he could take back Moira, but Takis of course said no because he knows that Moira will be neglected again.
