Most shelter dogs that are up for adoption usually go through a process that makes them ready to become house pets once again. Sometimes this happens with foster parents, who are more than willing to take on the task. This is something that Angela Marie has experienced multiple times already.
Foster Mom Angela
Angela is the founder of Angela’s Ark, an animal rescue group based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Recently she fostered a pooch named Forrest. Most of the dogs that she fostered are pretty lively, but this special pooch was different. He was actually terrified of Angela.
Every time the foster mom would come near him, Forrest would hide at the back of his cage. The poor pup was so terrified of Angela that even looking in his direction is enough to frighten him. This dog’s previous owners must’ve abused him. The foster mom then decided to take him outside for a walk.
All doggos love going on walks. Angela used two leashes on Forrest just to be safe, as she was afraid that the pooch would try to run away. Luckily, he didn’t do that, but when he got scared again, Forrest found some bushes near him, and he hid inside! Poor puppy!
New Ideas to Help Forrest
Angela then thought of letting him play with her dogs. Perhaps Forrest used to live with other pooches, and playing with dogs would help him come out of his shell. It worked! Forrest saw Angela’s pups running around the yard, and he joined right in. After that first breakthrough, Forrest started to warm up to his foster mom.
After a couple of weeks, while Angela was working on her computer, Forrest laid down beside her. At this point, she knew that this pup was ready to trust humans again. And not long after, they found the perfect forever home for him. See this pup’s amazing transformation in the video below.
