Imagine you are scrolling through Instagram and come across the hashtag #hucktheroofdog. If you’re anything like me you’re wondering what in the world does that mean.
Let me introduce you to Huckleberry, a 9.5-year-old Golden Retriever living in Texas. Hanging out on the roof is his time to chill. His mom Allie Lindemuth calls it his “roof time” and says “it’s like his morning coffee.”
One day Justin Lindemuth was in the house and heard what sounded like thunder. His first thought was that there was a raccoon on his roof. But then he realized it was Huckleberry. Allie recalls Justin yelling to her “he figured it out.”
Huckleberry was 9-months old when he figured out how to jump onto the roof. If you’re wondering how it is possible for him to get up there, well it’s because the roof in their backyard is only about three feet off the ground.
When you see Huckleberry on the roof from the front of the house you can’t begin to imagine how that doggy got up there. Because of this the Lindemuth family constantly had people knocking on their door to inform them that their dog was on the roof.
The Lindemuth’s know when Huckleberry is on the roof because they only let him into their backyard when they are home. And since Huck won’t get off the roof without a bribe they know he is safe up there.
They had so many concerned passersby knocking on their door that they decided to put up a sign explaining the situation. The sign said:
“Don’t be alarmed!!! Huckleberry is living up to his name and learned how to jump onto our roof from the backyard. We never leave him in the backyard without someone being at home. He will not jump off unless you entice him with food or a ball.
We appreciate your concern but please do not knock on our door… we know he’s up there! But please feel free to take pictures of him and share with the world! #hucktheroofdog”

I would say that Huck’s most quirky habit is his love of spending time on the roof. What is your dog’s most interesting habit? Let us know in the comments below!
