Most of the time, the watchful and protective behavior of dogs comes into good use especially when we need it the most.
Bob from Michigan knows all about this after his pup named Kelsey valiantly stayed by his side while he was paralyzed in the snow for 20 hours on New Year’s eve after slipping on ice. As he laid freezing in the snow, Kelsey provided him warmth by constantly licking his face throughout the night as she barked until the next morning for help to arrive.
Kelsey’s owner was planning to spend the evening watching football when he felt a bit chilly. At about 10:30 PM, Bob decided to go outside to fetch a log to keep the fire going. He didn’t want to miss the show so he ran outside and didn’t notice how slippery the ice was.
Without seeing how dangerous it was outside, Bob soon found himself slipping on the ice which left him paralyzed. Although he tried to call for help, no one could hear him because his neighbor lived considerably farther from where he was.
Thankfully, Kelsey came to his rescue after hearing his cries. The situation was terribly distressing for both of them because they knew that no one was around to help them. But this didn’t stop Kelsey from actively seeking out help for her owner.
Kelsey knew the freezing temperature was harmful to Bob, so she tried her best to keep him warm by staying by his side throughout the night. Aside from the warmth from her body, she constantly licked Bob’s face while she barked away for help.
It wasn’t until morning that help would finally arrive when Bob’s neighbor heard Kelsey’s desperate barks. With Bob’s neighbor now at the scene, the dog was relieved that her owner would now be taken to a medical facility.
Thanks to Kelsey’s quick actions, Bob is expected to recover from his paralysis and the hypothermia he endured. Discover more about Kelsey’s heroic deeds with this video.
