A concerned neighbor contacted Animal Aid Unlimited about an injured dog that couldn’t stand. He said the pup had been in the same spot for days. It was conscious but it hasn’t moved since he noticed it. It just sat and stared at everyone who passed by.
Two rescuers rushed to the given location and found the dog sitting on dirt. Hundreds of flies swarmed him, but they couldn’t figure out why. One man grabbed a towel and wrapped it around him, and when he lifted the pup, that’s when they saw the enormous wound on his behind.
The rescuers immediately brought the dog they named Sidney to their hospital. They examined him thoroughly and determined he was paralyzed from his waist down. They cleansed his infected wound and flushed the pus and blood from it.
The vet team comforted the dog and began his physical therapy right away. They hoped that one day, he’d walk again. It would be a very long process, they all agreed, but they had to give him a chance no matter what.
Two weeks later, Sidney took his first step. He was able to stand on his own but only lasted for a few seconds. Because his legs were still weak, he kept falling again and again.
The dog’s wound healed in no time. But the damage to his spine was severe. He couldn’t walk or stand without falling. His rescuers thought he’d never walk again, but he proved them wrong.
Sidney refused to give up. He continued to fight because he wanted to live. He persevered, and one day, all of his hard work paid off.
The paralyzed dog found dying on the streets taught himself to walk again. He surprised everybody when he came running to them. He was a miracle, and everything he did brought wonder to his rescue friends.
