Chinese people hold a yearly festival where locals consume dog meat to indicate the beginning of the summer solstice. Many dog lovers are disgusted by this act and want to do everything to save the poor dogs. Thankfully, a rescue group called China Rescue Dogs stepped up to help.
The rescue organization had difficulties transporting the rescued canines to the United States because of Chinese customs. Despite this obstacle, the team set up shop in Canada and had almost two hundred of the dogs sent there first.
One of the dogs saved by the team was Golden, an eight-year-old Golden Retriever who was on the kill list in China. The poor dog already had half of his right ear cut off and he was very sick when he was found by rescuers.
The Golden Retriever went through hell most of his life. He was deprived of a fun puppyhood and he had no clue what genuine family love felt like.
Like most of the dogs, Golden was transferred from the Canada facility over to the rescue team’s shelter in the United States. He was treated with kindness and overwhelming love during his recovery period.
A new life
After a few weeks, Golden was signed ready for adoption. Despite battling some health issues, the rescue team found him a loving family that was willing to give Golden the life he deserved.
Once the adoption process was done, the new family came to pick up Golden who excitedly waited for them. The dog traveled all the way to Ohio where he was welcomed into a beautiful home with a big yard.
Stewart from the China Dogs Rescue team said that Golden has never looked happier. Whenever the organization received photos and updates from the new families of their rescues, they felt so proud of what they did.
