Sheldon, the dog in the shelter
Most shelter dogs didn’t have the best life in the past. Not only that they spend most days in a kennel, but they are constantly craving attention and love from people. We can all agree that these dogs deserve loving forever homes. However, there are just so many shelter dogs that don’t get noticed.
A dog named Sheldon was staying at an animal shelter in Maricopa County. He was a resident of the shelter for over 30 days and no one seemed to want to adopt him. Sheldon is a pit bull with a grumpy face, which actually made him cute. However, most people are more inclined to adopt cute-looking dogs and because Sheldon was a pit bull, most people see him as aggressive or violent.
However, Sheldon is nothing that people assumed him to be. Sheldon is a loving dog who just happens to have a grumpy face. Luckily for Sheldon, one of the volunteers at the shelter named Heather Haltmeyer was taking photos of the animals to post on the shelter’s social media page. This is to encourage people to adopt dogs from the shelter.
Heather noticed Sheldon’s adorable pink lips and that he’s always happy, jumping, and wagging his tail whenever she came near Sheldon’s kennel. So, Heather decided to take Sheldon to the yard to take photos of him. That’s when Heather realized that Sheldon is quite the comedian.
During the photoshoot, Heather put a dashing green bow tie on Sheldon and took photos of him. When Heather uploaded the photos on the shelter’s social media page, people went crazy for him and all the reactions were positive. Sheldon was finally getting the publicity he needed to get noticed and adopted.
That’s when a girl named Emily Chmiel came along and noticed Sheldon. Emily fell in love with Sheldon and decided to adopt him. Emily renamed him Castiel and he’s now living a great life with Emily. Castiel loves cuddling with Emily and he also loves playing and hanging out with his five cat siblings.
Castiel enjoys coming to work with Emily every day and he also has his own social media page where his fans can keep themselves updated on what he’s up to. Castiel may have a grumpy face, but his loving personality always shines when he’s playing with other dogs and his toys. Here’s a heartwarming video of how Castiel found his forever family thanks to a photoshoot.
