It’s heartbreaking to see several dogs cramped up in a tiny enclosure. That is a situation that is clearly an indication of animal abuse. When something like that gets reported, animal rescue organizations often intervene.
The Korean Animal Welfare Association recently got into a complicated dispute with an abusive dog owner. The elderly woman claimed that she was running a dog shelter. However, the conditions of the dogs being kept there are horrific. Some of the dogs have already died due to neglect.
The rescuers went back and forth to convince the woman to surrender the dogs to them. However, she vehemently refused until the local government got involved. Somehow, due to unknown reasons, the local government authorities managed to convince her to give away all her dogs.
After getting custody of the abused dogs, the rescuers needed to solve another problem. They had to find a way to collect all the dogs and place them in crates to transport them. This proved to be a hard task since all of the dogs grew wary and fearful.
The rescuers tried to split up and catch some of the escaped dogs one by one. Unfortunately, this did not work, so they had to develop a new strategy. All of the rescuers grouped together and went into the property at the same time, forming a human wave.
Eventually, the rescuers managed to block off certain escape routes. This allowed them to collect the remaining dogs who were elusive. It was exhausting for them, but the tasks didn’t end there.
After getting all the dogs, the rescue team remembered that there were also cats in the vicinity. When they tried to look for them, they found out that the cats were kept inside the land owner’s home. Since the woman locked herself and the cats inside the house, the rescuers can’t barge in.
The rescuers left the property in the meantime. They plan to come back for the cats some other day because the legal responsibility falls on them. The woman eventually has to surrender the cats too. Overall, the rescue mission was a success because hundreds of dogs were saved from abuse that day.
